First Day of Summer

Being on a trip, I'd pretty much completely forgotten about the First Day of Summer. Thank goodness my Mom did not, because we ended up having such a fun evening! I had run to the grocery store to pick up a few things and saw these lovely sunflowers on sale - this picture is from their first day, but they have lasted well over a week!

Sunflowers in a vintage thermos/cooler?!
Perfect! I found this cooler at a thrift store near my sisters house for only fifty cents!

My Mom suggested after dinner that we walk to Baskin Robbins for ice cream! What a great and fun idea!

I had peanut butter and chocolate - what is your favorite ice cream?

cookies and cream! (although Ben and Jerry's makes a Late Night Snack flavor that has chocolate covered potato chips and caramel that I just discovered this week)

Oh do I have to pick just one????
I would have to say Black Cherry if I picked a store brand and homemade is Banana or peach. YUM!
What a great way to spend the first day of summer.

Going to BR is a summer tradition with my parents. I think they have the best chocolate ice cream! I also like the mint chocolate chip... it is so hard to make the decision!

At the ice cream parlor in my parents' town there is a new flavor: snow white swan. It's pistachio ice cream with white chocolate covered almonds and ALSO chunks of white chocolate. It's amazing. But chocolate and peanut butter is my next favorite!

Enjoying the pictures from your trip!

Monica, my boys have a movie called The Runner from Ravenshead. (I think it was made by a homeschool family.)Anyway, there is a little boy in that movie whose looks remind me SO much of your Samuel--glasses and all. Every time I watch it, I'm reminded of him!

I recently had grapfruit flavored ice cream for the first time. It was extra yummy, and oh so refreshing! I couldn't help but notice the jackets and long sleeves in your pictures, seems so strange in July. I hope you are having a wonderful time with your family.

First choice is same as yours - chocolate/peanut butter - especially Turkey Hill if you are lucky enough to live where you can get it!! Second choice would have to be banana!! YUMMY - now I want ice cream!!

Can't believe you found full blooming sunflowers at this season for less than a pretty penny! Up here in New England, you find them cut for fall and that's it.

Favorite ice cream flavor? The discontinued "Ka Berry Ka Bam" Ben and Jerry flavor. Vanilla ice cream with swirls of blueberry ice cream and blueberry jam. Funny thing was I got it just reading about the blueberry and thought I had to try it... I knew it said there was chocolate covered something in it, but I didn't read it all the way. Figured it was chocolate covered berries. I started eating it when, all of a sudden, my mouth started fizzing!! I was certain I got a rancid batch so I took off to check the "sell by" date. Turns out the ice cream was totally fresh, it was just the chocolate covered something was chocolate covered Pop Rocks. LoL!

Looks like you had such a fun evening! I LOVE the sunflowers.
I think my favorite BR ice cream is Jamocha Almond Fudge, (or German Chocolate cake) but I have lots of other favorties, too.
I just love ice cream!
Can't wait until you get here.

Love, Grandma

I haven't been to a Baskin Robbins in a long time. I was going to comment on your girlies "huge" cones of yumminess. I'm assuming they handled them with ease. :)

But, for my first choice it would have to be Black Raspberry.

Or, if we go to our local Coldstone Creamery (chain store- I think) I love sharing a Coffee Mojo with my hubby in a waffle bowl.
